THE PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personality:: Ryan is a calm man but has a tendency to butt in when not needed. His eyes may not see but he hears all and sees in more ways than one. He stays observing even though he can't see like normal people can, their hearts is how he can actually see or by their movements. He tends to stay quiet at times but will talk to nearly anyone. However due to his past he can be rather uptight about things concerning keywords like; science, ShinRa, or SOLDIER. He rather enjoys pain slightly as well.

His personality is also rather timid and confused, he tends to talk to himself a lot but it is due to how his past was with solitude and the testing Geitanis put him through. Despite talking to himself he is an excellent fighter when it comes to weapons-work, his agility heightens and becomes a weapon itself. He hates fighting actually, he will forever regret hurting Revena the only scientist who tried to help him. His fighting style is a version of Blind Fist.

Chalice is a strong headed man who will do anything to help others, even risk his life to do it. Never once has he fallen prey to killing either, he will knock people out tho with his staff. If he fights, he will listen carefully before moving to counter, he can go offensive— but prefers defensive due to his sight being gone. If he goes into defense he is not as vulnerable.

A mutation happened allowing his senses to become heightened far above SOLDIER operatives however this wasn't the only thing he had during the two new years of blinding.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Biography::
Chalice's parents were both born in the Northern Continent's Icicle Inn; both had grown up together and when of age they married. It was a happy thing for a while till Emmila became pregnant unexpectedly; Eric said she cheated on him but came to know their child was his and it settled down for a while. When the child was born both smiled and were happy to have a son. They named their boy Ryan Chalice. Ryan though, he had a problem growing up, he was a space cadet. He never could focus on anything but the animals and things he wasn't supposed to when helping his family. By the weeks it got worse for him to focus and his parents got worried for him; Emmila took him to a local doctor and had him checked, he was given stuff to help his condition but he soon began to get worse after turning five. His parents kept him inside and made sure he was with one of them constantly, however it didn't last for Emmila and Eric. They took Ryan with them as they ran from a weird but small group of men; the men shot Emmila and Eric before chasing the child. Ryan was scared and as well scarred from seeing his parents killed. As he ran he tripped and rolled down a hill in a flurry, he landed at a hiker's feet and crawled behind him letting off a series of whines and chirps. The man was in his fifties but was dressed like some warrior would, he took Ryan and raised him, the group never found Ryan till later.

Ryan never forgot the day his parents died and since then he started pushing himself to his limit to learn how to be normal, the old man felt bad for the boy as well. Soon the man took him up as his own child around Ryan's eighth birthday, Ryan never did call him father but still loved him like one. The boy challenged himself everyday and began to talk more and act more Human in a way. Soon as he was able to act right Ryan Chalice began to know what his name kind of meant, his middle name was important to him. "Cup" is basically what it meant and to him it was forever empty but slowly filling as he learned new things in life. Soon the man took him far from Ryan's home town and to his guardian's home town in the East Continent, Kalm. Ryan hated the trip and constantly protested on it, the old man disagreed with him and kept going on. With many grievances Ryan followed growling and cursing at the man in weird words. Ones he should have dropped when he outgrew his mental state. He got hit on the head by the man's walking staff many times for that on the way there and when they got there Ryan made sure to buy one and shape it to his liking wince the old man was rather blind and couldn't see well. His staff was used to block his guardian's staff.

When Reccan figured out what he had been smacking he got mad at the boy and smashed something into him; Ryan ran away taking his staff and never went back to Kalm or to the old senile man. He was now a young teen and found out their was a military service in Midgar he could join and went for it. He signed up and waited through what was to be done before he could join. Many times they went over his application and he soon began to get annoyed as they began to place him in Infantry. This really bugged him, he wasn't that lanky and he knew he could prove it. However at the last minute he was surprisingly put into the lowest class of SOLDIER, later he found out a scientist put him in there by the name of Geitanis Geifstoe Striker. He had no idea of how the man managed that but he had a bad feeling about it. Unlike most though he refused to use magic or point blank killing weapon like he sword or gun. He kept his own with him and soon had it fussed into a Naginata, after he trained in the basics, which later he broke after his accident, sure people said he was crazy but he didn't care. Later on he found he was second class only due to the scientist's tampering, but he didn't know much of that. Though when they infused him with mako he really got made, he didn't like it but kept it to himself. Growing up he used every thing naturally and never enhancements. Never did he know it would save his life later.

His training was relentless and made him hurt a lot though he never gave up, he enjoyed it. Soon he began to go on missions, and he liked them to an extent but hated how people praised SOLDIER like they were gods with a high superiority complex. He hated that and had to ignore it all as he went. He never talked to any of the people in the towns either. When he came to a new town there was one person he did talk to, Revena Armista, a green eyed girl with black hair. She helped him out several times in the mission and they became friends, thing was - she never knew he was SOLDIER. He gave her his number and made sure to check in on his new friend when he could by the cell. However the Wutainese began poking around and he and a few others were assigned to hunt them down and stop them by any means necessary, Ryan knew he was probably going to do more than impair a sense this go-round. He didn't like it and still and went with it. As he got closer he began to recognize some voices and got too curious for his own good; he broke from his group and did a call none recognized but one Wutainese. That said person came into the shadows after a while and he shoved them onto the tree ready to hurt them if they moved.

He had his knife ready as he moves the head covering but backed up dropping it, it was Revena. He clutched his head and ran off after taking his knife. She followed him but didn't get a warm welcome from her friend. He hurt her physically with his staff as she came from the trees and fell to the ground twitching. He befriended the enemy and it hurt to find out she was a Wutainese. She was the only one who survived the attack - Ryan though dropped his first name that day and took on Dé, completing his name's meaning. Since then he began to dread ShinRa, and took it to himself to learn more about them in secret which was hard and he had to lie a bunch. Chalice began to fell like a spy for himself as he hunted down information but one day he got caught by his guardian who found him again. Chalice was around nineteen when he was caught. His guardian reported him to a man he thought was an officer but was the scientist who signed him up. With an evil grin the man shot Chalice in the shoulder and made him cry out and fall to his knees in pain. Looking up he saw Reccan get shot as well but he died. Chalice stood and ran at Geitanis and swore he'd kill him for what he had done.

Chalice was sedated and later woke up in a lab, everything was black and he felt a massive head ache till the scientist flicked on the lights. Chalice winced an squinted his eyes, soon everything was clear and the scientist began to explain that he had been waiting to get the son of whom eluded him for years, Eric Stiligma. He also stated that was why he easily accepted him into the ShinRa army, so he'd be an easy kill. Chalice yelled in the weird words and spat in his face. He got smacked and had something attached to him, intrigue Chalice screamed. He couldn't move, nor could he escape, but before the scientist could inject him with a sedative something hit him. A Wutainese warrior was there saving Chalice's butt, he wiggled trying to get out but the stranger freed him an Chalice bolted and had something sharp smash into his skull. A cry of great anguish sounded and he fell over dying from it impaling his brain a little. The warrior forced Geitanis to preserve his life but when he finished the scientist was supposedly killed. He fled though to Icicle Inn. The warrior bound his cranium and took him outside of the hole, laid him against the wall and left after whispering,

"For saving my sister from fate."

When Chalice woke he screamed once he found he couldn't see, he reached to his feet to find them already bare and stood stumbling about. He cried as he tried to move about; he had nothing left now. No family, no Reccan, no friends, no way of knowing where to go, and no way of surviving. ShinRa said he was dead, and he felt dead and alone. All he remembered was faint words in his mind but couldn't make them out. He went far from Midgar after finding out everyone thought he died in he explosion. He just happened to be in one of the saved places. He began to live in the slums near a church and made sure to learn to get around. He kept everything that he once had as a SOLDIER in a trunk deep in the ground. He never dug it up again. However kept his weapons. As he aged three more years Chalice became more adept than anyone- his four senses became a weapon and it also charged him with the ability to be more agile than the bulky SOLDIERs. He could see things they couldn't and hear much better than them. Everyday he'd practice and everyday he got better and became his own map. So many missions he went by foot and knew them by heart now. He was glad to be blind but— he could never see beauty again, seeing faces of others, smiles on children faces, or even a girl blushing at what he would say. He missed those things greatly. He was 22 and had many years left, Chalice had no idea how to fill his life anymore.

From then the male traveled, kept close to the slums, and kept his past identity unknown. All he knows at his current age is… no one pays give for a male who is blind. Yet as he traveled he came upon a child, something he had never "felt" ever in his life. At the given time, in the fields near Neibelhiem he was the first to meet Lunix. A boy of Gaia itself. He as well, for the first time since becoming blind, was able to see. It had been bright, full of vibrancy when he saw the event. It was temporary. Since then he was with Lunix, keeping eye over the strange person but soon began to call him his own son. He raised the boy even though he was impaired.
